President Obama the Legend?
I ask myself this question in light of Newsweek's cover: titled, "Obama the First Gay President. Is the title nothing more than a strategy to provoke the public to purchase, read and perhaps collect this issue of "Newsweek" magazine? Consider the fact that after actually reading the article, readers discover that Newsweek magazine is not insinuating president Obama is gay, but rather that he supports gay marriage. The title on the cover of this issue of Newsweek is eye catching to say the least. Not to mention the presidents photo resembles a would-be poster pin-up for "Gay rights in America." Some might ask themselves, why now? What is the president's motive? Is this just a re-election strategy to capture the gay vote? Only the president himself and his top advisors can truly answer these questions.
The president’s public support of gay marriage is currently at the forefront of controversial conversation across the country and around the world. Never the less, the president's comment’s surrounding the rights of gay couples to marry will again mark history as the" nation's first. “It is apparent that if nothing else our nation’s first black president knows how to stay in the media and on minds of U.S citizens. Supporters and critics alike can credit themselves for making President Obama one of the most talked about presidents in the history of the United States. Like him or not, President Obama sure knows how to make history! Whether that is a strategy or mere coincidence is a mystery.
